Merry Christmas| From the manger to the cross
Merry Christmas!!!
Finally, the best day/ season of the year is here and I can’t help but thank God for an incredible year thus far. 2012 sort of flew by, I’m pretty sure we were just saying happy new year..lol Need less to say, another Christmas is here which grants us the opportunity to reflect on the birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Many people begin the “story of Christmas” with the immaculate conception and most end it with the birth of our Savior and a love offering from the 3 wise men. Yet, I refuse to start or end there, rather I begin with the scripture that states “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21). This verse starts it for me because I am immediately forced to think about the real reason why Jesus came to the earth. He came to give a dying world hope, to absorb the wrath of God, and redeem us from our sin. Emmanuel— God with us, such an incredible Savior that is all too reduced to Egg Nog, Santa Claus, and Rudolph.
I think it is key for us to not only acknowledge the humble birth of our Savior, but to also meditate on the reason behind His coming. That sole reason is why you and I can live freely without the threat of damnation— it’s the reason why we are free from our pasts and made whole. So this Christmas remember the REAL reason for the season and give glory to God for the ultimate sacrifice.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
Over & Out!
